Who is Ananda

Yoga has always been part of my life — my parents were pioneers in the introduction of yoga in Spain in the seventies. In time, what had been a daily presence turned into a need to understand, contextualise and question the history, sources and transformations of yoga. I hold a degree in Psychology (1997) and a PhD in Philosophy (2014), and I specialised in Indian studies; I have been teaching the history and philosophies of yoga since 2004. I contribute to research journals and projects, both academic and aimed at the general public — most recently to L'encyclopédie du Yoga, edited by Ysé Tardan-Masquelier (Albin Michel, 2021), and to Latināsana: The Avatars of Yoga in Latin America (eds. Adrián Muñoz and Borayin Larios, forthcoming). My wish is to share this path in a close, alive and accessible way, so that yoga can be not only a space of well-being but also of critical thought and freedom.

Testimonials

I have loved following the training from Tokyo. Beyond clarifying the meaning of the texts and the history of yoga, Ananda shares the latest research and knowledge in the field, and answers every possible question. The training opens up many surprising avenues for reflection. Ananda's generosity has also moved me deeply.
